Phobia Causes
Not completely understood, the origin of phobias can vary. In some cases the individual may have experienced a traumatic event in the past that led to their specific phobia. Some phobias are thought to be "learned" and passed on through role modeling. Others, such as Social Phobia and Agoraphobia can run in families.
Common phobias such as the fear of heights or spiders may be instinctual.
Quite often, phobias are caused in our childhood. The initial cause is a very real fear experienced by the child and the mind attaches itself to the object or situation forming a phobia.
